About Marco Tarantino and his wife Analia.
The owners of Spiaggetta are Marco Tarantino and his wife Analia. Marco was born in Rome and spent his summers as a child in the coastal cities of Ladispoli and Civitavecchia . Each summer, the boats would set out to sea early in the morning to catch fish for the town market. Marco and his brothers worked on the docks, so when the boats came back from fishing, they pulled the boats back to shore so the merchants could pick out their daily selection. He spent his childhood and young adulthood cooking delicious Italian specialties with his mother and grandmother. Their favorite was a fresh Mediterranean and Roman cuisine of baccala, flounder, mullets, and langostinos. During his Italian military service, he spent two years in Bracciano, a town famous for its medieval castle and the volcanic lake, Lago di Bracciano were he learned the rustic cuisine of the roman countryside.
In 1983, Marco moved to the US and began working in several restaurants while completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at St. Joseph's University. He gained experience and specialized in fresh fish from all over the world, like Dover Sole, Branzino, Pampano, and Turbot.
He was the co-owner of Sole , which closed in 2011, in Stone Harbor, NJ. His newest venture is Spiaggetta, a family-owned seafood trattoria, where he brings expertise, knowledge, and delicious food to the table.
